The social studies department main goal during week 2 was to make students aware of the serious effects of climate change and how they are a major threat to our beloved planet Earth! First students were introduced to the effects via videos,PPTs and they were asked to conduct their own researches about global warming and green house gases then create “flipgrid” responses to share the knowledge they've gained. Next, the students were divided into groups based on their multiple intelligences. Each group was responsible for spreading awareness of the effects of climate change in the best way they can express. The 1st group created “Minecraft” projects, the 2nd group produced Artwork, the 3rd group worked on creating online posters and the 4th and final group was responsible for creating and running an Instagram page for spreading awareness. Finally, all students were brought together to create a fun and engaging climate change awareness song entitled (Our biggest challenge).
During week 2 students didn’t only become aware of the serious threats of climate change and how it’s affecting us but also, they were able spread awareness and share it with the world. Not to mention, that they have done all that while using skills to make them succeed in the globalized, knowledge based world of today like Knowledge construction, communication , collaboration , self regulation and use of technology.
