Deanna McBeath started teaching in 2004 and loves teaching middle school students! Her subject expertise includes science, history, prehistory, technology, and health. She has lived in Kentucky, Costa Rica, Connecticut, New York City, and Chicago. Deanna holds a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a master's degree in middle school education from the Bank Street College of Education. Her master's thesis was a case study of Project Dorot, a fifth-grade intergenerational service-learning program. Deanna has presented at education conferences for the Association for Middle Level Education, the Illinois Science Teachers Association, and the National Science Teaching Association and is a trained practitioner of SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity), Responsive Classroom, Harvard's Project Zero, Constructing Modern Knowledge, All Kinds of Minds, and Rush University's Executive Functioning program.

Deanna is also a writer, a naturalist, a maker, a partner, and a mom to one human child and one mixed-breed terrier dog.
