Description:

Climate change is a global problem. According to some analyzes, the total emission reduction that can be achieved is 20 percent relative to when no reduction measures would be taken. In the energy sector, this would be achieved by changing fuel - coal and gas oil, renewable energy - hydropower, solar, wind, geothermal and biomass.

There is plenty of evidence and a high degree of consensus in scientific circles that climate change is due to increased emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities, primarily carbon dioxide emissions when burning fossil fuels. Emissions of these gases for the last three decades have grown by 70 percent, with a tendency for further increase if current practices and behavior are retained in the future. According to the Emission Scenario (SES), an increase of as much as 90 percent of GHG emissions in 2030 is predicted in relation to values ??in 2000.

Changes in lifestyle and habits are needed. Climate change will occur. The question is whether we will invest more in their mitigation and adjustment or in dealing with the consequences. For example, for concentrations to be maintained at a level that would limit the global temperature rise by 2.8 -3.20 degrees Celsius in 2030, it is necessary to invest 0.2-2.5 percent of the global gross national product. As a result of climate change, "moving the Sahara towards the Mediterranean" is assumed, and in this sense, Dalmatia would look like a desert.

The projected changes in temperature and precipitation in Macedonia by 2100 indicate that the average temperature can rise to 3.80 degrees Celsius, and precipitation may drop by 13% compared to the period 1961-1990. Certain regions would suffer more, like the southeast and central part, where changes can be most dramatic. Such climate change would have negative impact on all sectors of the economy, agriculture, forestry, water resources, biodiversity and human health.
