Currently, I am a Fine Art Teacher at OOU Saint Cyril and Metodius in Skopje, for students between 10 and 14 years old. I have been working in NGO sector before teaching, and I have been involved in many projects concerning society (inter ethnic relations, children’s rights, anti-firearms campaigns etc.), the impact of society on the environment, the wild life, and the quality of life itself. I have organized many workshops concerning all those topics and issues. Most of the participants were students from 15 to 19 years old (large groups from different schools); we had guests invited on almost every workshop, depending on the subject, such as: municipality leaders and decision makers like representatives from the government, where students experienced participating in debates and discussions, posing questions, and making statements on behalf of youth in the country.
Now as a Fine Art Teacher I can, I do, and I will not stop trying to make a difference, because I see, I listen, and I respond to every action or question from the students that pops up every day at school. We have to act now; we have to teach them that every action has a reaction, and every consequence has a cause. Our job is to make them better human beings; our job is to take action whenever we can, to be louder about the issues that can ruin our society and the environment. There are several collaboration agreements between our and other schools in our municipality, and we often work on joining project and events. The last workshop was about the importance of the Three Rs: reducing, reusing and recycling. We managed to create printed materials such as posters, flyers and badges, as well as linocut art drawings, which were printed manually or through the printing press on bags and t-shirts. The message was: We don't need Ecology Day to be the change we want to see; each day is a time to do something right and an opportunity to make a positive impact- We believe in making a difference!!!
